George HanekeMemberHere is something I did not know:
Q. We will be using a special 1 by 1 callsign for Field Day. Is there anything special we must do?
A. Yes, at least once per hour each station using the special call must also ID with the FCC-issued station call. (97.119(d)). For more information on 1×1 callsigns see http://www.1x1callsigns.org/
Mark, why can’t you be a GOTA station?
Charles, Please sketch me in with van just under cover and 18″ trailer just to the left of Chris and on the other side of the concrete walkway ( about where that white car is located).

George HanekeMemberI would like to try to get up on FT8 using a cobweb antenna mounted about twenty feet over my trailer outside the pavilion. Just need to be close enough to hook into power. This will take a little patience on my part. Plan on bring an antenna for 6M and VHF/UHF. I should pose no threat of interference as the power is low and way down the band.
FYI – I AM AND HAVE BEEN AN EXTRA FOR ALMOST 25 YEARS. WHEN I AM ON SITE ALL OPERATORS MAY USE THE EXTRA BANDS BY JUST LETTING ME KNOW.

George HanekeMemberThe American Radio Relay League has long stood for our hobby protecting our frequencies and operating modes, providing training and a myriad of other services. Volunteers are essential to making ARRL work. One key position is the Section Manager. They cover geographical areas as large as some states. Our section manager spends hours behind the windshield to meet with members throughout his section. I just want to take this opportunity to embarrass Steve a bit and thank him for his time, his effort and his service. Thank you Steve.
George HanekeMemberAnd here I thought I was going to find questions here.
George HanekeMemberI have had good luck with the Wouxons, less so with the BaoFengs. I would buy either again if the need arose.
September 12, 2021 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Part 95 (Citizen Band) to be granted FM modulation on 11 meters #1922George HanekeMemberThis will help open the sales of many new radios to CBers. Good for business, should not bother hams much. Much easier for clear communications.
George HanekeMemberHave a safe trip. C U @ Field Day.
George HanekeMemberCharles, changed my mind I will bring an FT897 to run 6 and 2 mtrs using USB and FT8. Will probably use beams at about 15 to 20 feet. Will operate from my van and be clear of Pavillion. Will play it by ear as it goes. Breakfast between 8 and 830 with meeting to follow at Pavillion.
