It is easy to get a reference copy of your license, but more complicated is getting an official copy of your license. Why might you need one? To put in your wallet? To apply for radio operator license plates? To upgrade to a higher category of license? You can call and work with a live person and get one mailed to you, but online is probably easier and is certainly faster.
First thing you will need is an FCC Registration Number (FRN) and password. If you have those, skip step #1 and go to step #2 below.
Step #1 – Click this link and it will take you to a page that looks like the one below.
Click where indicated by the red arrow above. Once you have set up a FRN and password, on to step #2.
Step #2 – Click this link and it will take you to a page that looks like the one below:
Enter your FRN and password where indicated by the red arrows above and click on the “SUBMIT” button.
The result will look like this:
Click your call sign where the red arrow indicates above.
The result will look like this:
Click the word “here” where the red arrow indicates above.
Then you should get a page that looks like this:
I have both an FRS (ZA) and amateur radio (HV) license, so I first clicked HV where indicated above, then the “ADD” button and then the “SELECT ALL” button. Next, scroll down and click the button on the lower right corner that says “DOWNLOAD”.
Your official license should next open up in another tab. If it does not back up and try again and watch for a popup blocker notice along the top of the screen. Allow popups to allow the new license to download and it should show up and look like this:
If all else fails you can always call and talk with someone or write them a snail mail:
